** Update (1.27.2017) Currently, the Burton’s are actively fundraising and plan to be back in Scotland permanently by the end of August 2017. **
Sam and Brittan Burton currently live in northeast Georgia on a small farm, but their hearts belong to the people of the Moray coast of Scotland.
In the fall of 2016 the Burton’s took a 6 week vision trip to Buckie, Scotland to explore the possibility of going back to the Moray coast as full-time missionaries. While they were there the Lord revealed a wonderful plan for ministry for the villages and people of Buckie, Portgordon, and Portknockie, along with many other hamlets along the coast.
“We know that God has a plan for Moray. A plan of restoration, and hope. We are excited that God is allowing us to be a small part of it. We love the people, the culture, and the area. Our hearts are already there.”
Sam served as a missionary in Scotland for 13 years before he and Brittan met, and his dream has always been to return to ministry along the northern coast of Scotland. Since her first trip to Scotland back in 2001, Brittan has shared Sam’s love and passion for Scotland and she feels equally committed to the call to return to the place and the people who hold their hearts.
Their ministry plan is a simple one: to relentlessly pursue those far from God with the hope and love of Jesus Christ. They want to accomplish that mission through targeted evangelism events, community transformation projects, and establishing a culture of active discipleship and multiplication.
